Join Kate Casey as she discusses Seasonal Affective Disorder (sometimes called Seasonal Depression or SAD), its causes, and how we can use our yoga practice offset some of the effects. Class will begin with an informational dialogue and end with a full 60 minute practice designed to energize the body and relieve symptoms of SAD. You may wish to bring a notebook to jot down some tips and tricks to take home with you.

Slow Flow Yoga - Level 2

Join us in person at the studio or online via Zoom! Make sure to bring your water & mask!

Slow flow yoga practice allows a person to become familiar with his or her body, create a reflective pause, and lets the student go inward and feel how the postures unfold in his/her body. Slow Vinyasa Yoga is a therapeutic dance of movement with body awareness and intelligent use of yoga form for healing and growth. Poses unfold with patience and detail for more in-depth understanding of how they work in the body. Breathing Techniques, yogic principles, philosophy and principles will be introduced throughout the sessions.

Level 1: Appropriate for all students who have finished our Beginner’s Course in Yoga Movement or have prior yoga experience.

Level 2: Appropriate for students who have an understanding of yoga postures and have a regular asana practice.

Class focus is on developing strength, flexibility, stamina and concentration. At this level the student is presumed to have a basic understanding of the sun salutations, foundational postures and the ujjayi breathing technique. New variations of postures and technique will be introduced. In these sessions we will be exploring more advanced asanas and breathing techniques, as well as moving more deeply into the primary postures. Emphasis is on precision of alignment with awareness of the connection between the breath and the body during practice.
